Product Detailed
Use the Upgrade Database feature to copy component data from the selected product(s) to the open component database. The component data from the product(s) overwrites the data in the open component database. Typically, this feature is used when component data is changed for some reason (adding verifier data for example) at an offline PC and those changes need to be added to one or more machines. To upgrade the database: 1 Copy the product that contains the updated component data to the PRODUCTS directory of the machine, or PC, to be upgraded. 2 From the Component Database window, select: Options > Upgrade Database The Upgrade Component Database dialog box is displayed. 3 Select the product(s) to be used to upgrade the database. Hold the [Ctrl] key down to select multiple products. 4 Select OK. The following message is displayed. 5 Select Yes to upgrade the component database with data from the selected product(s). Upgrade Products Use the Upgrade Products feature to copy component data from the component database to selected products. Data from the database overwrites the component data in the selected product(s). . This feature is typically used if selected component data has been changed in the component database. To update a single product, open the product and save it. To upgrade multiple products with data from the component database: 1. From the Component Database window, select: Options > Upgrade Products The Upgrade Product(s) dialog box is displayed. This dialog box is also displayed when exiting the component database if any component data has changed. 2 In the Products list box, select one or more products to be upgraded. 3 Select OK. If a product is currently open and that product is selected, the following message is displayed. Select OK. From the Upgrade Products dialog box, deselect the open product and select OK again. 4 A confirmation message is displayed. 5 Select Yes to upgrade the selected products. Component Database 47146204 Rev. B Exit Select Exit to close the Component Database window. The Upgrade Product(s) dialog box is displayed when Exit is selected, if any component data has been changed and saved. Refer to the Upgrade Productstopic earlier in this module for details. Changes ToThis Revision Updated to rev. B. Pg 30-31: Upgrade Products, added tables indicating what product data is updated when component database data is updated; added statement to update a single product, open the product and save it. TECHNICAL PUBLICATIONS New Component 47146304 Rev. A Introduction UIC provides a comprehensive component database. However, as industry designs new components, the New Component window provides a method of adding these new component definitions to the database. Once the compo-nent definition has been saved, the component is available for use with the product if the product is configured with the appropriate database. The component database is a dynamic file. Existing customers who are upgrading IM-UPS software have access to any new component categories once a new database is created. Component definitions from existing databases can then be merged into the new database. Refer to the Mergetopic in the Component Databasemodule. The Window The New Component window consists of groups of data entry fields which when filled provide the machine with the information it needs to properly handle the components during the insertion process. Data Entry Groups A component definition is divided into logical groups of data. These groups are the same for axial and radial components, however, different information is required within some groups. The following paragraphs describe the infor-mation that needs to be entered to create a component definition. All the component definition fields (except description) must be completed before the Product Editor can save a definition. The Product Editor provides assistance to the user when the cursor is placed in a data field in the following ways: . On-screen graphics show how values are measured for component dimension data fields. . Acceptable values or an acceptable range of values are displayed in the Valid Entries list box. Refer to the component manufacturer's specifications for much of the data required for a component definition. General Information (sample General Information data entry group)
