2 Select the Copy menu option. The Copy Database dialog box is displayed. 3 Select the database name to copy from the Databases list box. 4 Select OK. The Target Directory dialog box is displayed. 5 From the Directories list box, select the directory to which you want to copy the database. 6 Select OK to copy the selected database to the selected directory. Restore Use the Restore option to restore the database to its state before the last change was made. This feature is useful if an incorrect modification has been made to the database. The database can be restored to its condition prior to the modification. For example, if you delete three components from the database and then select the Restore option, only the last component deleted will be restored. To restore the database: 1 Select the Database menu bar heading. 2 Select the Restore menu option. The Restore Component Database dialog box is displayed. 3 From the Databases list box, select the database to be restored. 4 Select OK. A confirmation dialog box is displayed. The time and date of the last save of both the old and new databases are displayed to ensure that the restore operation is correct. 5 Select Yes to restore the database or No to cancel the restore operation. Merge Use the Merge option to combine selected components from one database into another database. When IM-UPS is upgraded, any new component categories will be available once a new database is created. The Merge option can then be used to copy component definitions from an existing database to the new database. This eliminates the need for redefining component definitions in a new database while retaining the integrity of the existing database(s). To merge databases: 1 Open the component database into which components will be imported. 2 Select the Database menu bar heading. 3 Select the Merge menu option. The Merge from Component Database dialog box is displayed. 4 From the Databases list box, select the database from which data will be copied, or enter the database name in the Database field. 5 Select OK. The Merge Databases dialog box is displayed. 6. From the Components list box, select the components to import. To select more than one component, hold the [Ctrl] key while selecting each component. To select all components, select the Select All button. 7 Comprehensive Export Use the Comprehensive Export feature to copy component data for all components in a selected database to an ASCII file. For details about the structure of the exported file, refer to the Comprehensive Import/Export module. To export component data for all components in a selected database: 1 Database > Comprehensive Export The Export Database dialog box is displayed. 2 From the Databases list box, select the database to export. 3 Select OK. The Export Database File dialog box is displayed. 4 Enter a filename for the component database. The filename can contain up to 8 characters with a 3-character extension. (Example: database.txt) 5 Select OK. A messages indicates the component data has been successfully exported. 6 Delete Use the Delete option to remove a selected database. Do not delete the master component database since the only way to recover it is to reload IM-UPS. Any changes made to the database since IM-UPS was last loaded will not be retained. To delete a database: 1 Select the Database menu bar heading. 2 Select the Delete menu option. The Delete Component Database dialog box is displayed. 3 Select the database from the Databases list box to delete. 4 Select OK. A confirmation message is displayed. 5 Select Yes to delete the selected database or No to cancel the delete operation. Component Use the Component menu bar heading to manipulate a specified component in the current database. The following options are available. . Add . Edit . Copy . Alias . Unalias . Comprehensive Export . Select Components . List Product Components . Change Components in List . Delete . Print Add Use the Add option to add a component to the current database. This option opens the Select Category dialog box. After selecting a component type and selecting OK, the New Component window is displayed. The New Component window is supported by the New Component module. Edit Use the Edit option to make changes to an existing component definition in the current database. This option is only available if a component is selected in the Components list box. To edit a component definition: 1 From the Components list box, select the component to edit. 2 Select the Component menu bar heading.
