Data Use the Data menu bar heading to perform a variety of data file-related tasks. The Data pulldown menu options are: . Current Product . Open . Save . Save As . Export ASCII File . Refresh . Clear Management Data . Add Data to Database . Copy . Delete . Information . Print Current Product Use the Current Product menu option to display the Management Information window in its default format, with information relative to the current product. Performing an event, such as opening a file, changes the window content, and it is after such an event that you may want to redisplay the window with the current product information. To redisplay the current product information: 1 Data > Current Product Open Use the Open menu option to open a file containing management information. Once opened, the file can be updated or saved under a different name. To open a data file: 1 Data > Open The Open Management Data dialog box is displayed. 2 Save Use the Save option to save any data modifications that you make. If you attempt to leave the Management Information window without performing a Save, the system prompts you by asking if you really want to exit without saving your data. To save Management Information window changes: 1 Data > Save Save As Use the Save As command to save a file under a different name or in a different directory, without affecting the original name or location of the file. This menu option is similar to the Copy command in that the end result is having two identical, but differently-named files. To save a data file under a different name: 1 Data > Save As The Save Management Data As dialog box is displayed. 2 Note that a .MDF extension is automatically added to the file name, although this extension does not appear in the file names displayed in the Data Files list box. 3. Select OK. The Description dialog box is displayed: 4 You can enter a file description of up to 64 characters. Any entry in this field is optional. 5 Select OK. If a disk full error message is displayed when attempting to save a management information file to a floppy disk, select OK and then remove the floppy disk. This removes any data that may have been copied onto the disk and cancels the save process. Export ASCII File Use the Export ASCII File to copy an existing data file to an ASCII format file. To export a file as an ASCII file: 1 Data > Export ASCII File The Description dialog box is displayed. 2 If there is an entry, you can keep it, change it, or delete it. If there is no entry, you can either make an entry up to 64 characters long, or leave the field blank. Select OK. The Export Management Data As dialog box is displayed. 3 The current target directory path is displayed. Make your path selection, and then enter your file name in the Data File data field. The .TXT extension is automatically added to the file name. 4 Select OK to export the file to the selected directory. Refresh Use the Refresh menu option to replace any data currently displayed, regardless of the source, with the current product data. To refresh management information data: 1 Data > Refresh Refresh occurs as soon as the menu option is selected. Clear Management Data Use the Clear Management Data menu option to reset all current product timers and counters. To clear management data: 1 Data > Clear Management Data A prompt is displayed asking if you are sure that you want to clear the machine management data. 2 Add Data to Database Use the Add Data to Database menu option to add current data to the management information record in the database. Data can be current product data, a database record, a data file, or database totals. To add data to the database: 1 Data > Add Data to Database A dialog box is displayed with a message asking you to confirm that you want to add the current data to the management database. This is equivalent to executing a product changeover. If you proceed, the database is updated. Copy Use the Copy menu option to copy one or more existing data files from one directory to another. When you perform a Copy command, the original data file remains unchanged, and an exact duplicate is created in the target directory that you specify. To copy a data file: 1 Data > Copy The Copy Data File dialog box is displayed. 2 Select the file that you want to copy and select OK. The Target Directory dialog box is displayed. 3 Enter the path to which you want to copy the file in the Directory data entry field. 4 Select OK to copy the file. Delete Use the Delete menu option to remove one or more data files from the system. To delete a data files: 1 Data > Delete The Delete Management Data dialog box is displayed. 2 Select the file(s) that you want to delete. 3 Select OK. A confirmation prompt is displayed asking if you are sure that you want to delete the selected files. Information Use the Information menu option to display information related to the current management information task. Selecting this option opens the Information window which is supported by the Information module. Print Use the Print menu option to send current management information data to the default printer.
